A little bit about me

My childcare experience encompasses all age groups in addition to having raised 3 sons. I am a former Big Sister, and have volunteered for Toys For Tots and food banks as well as making donations to women's shelters.

I was certified on January 27, 2025
from the American Red Cross for Adult, Child and Infant CPR & First Aid.
I am responsible, reliable, patient and even tempered. I am also comfortable with pets.

I enjoy spending time with children and love to get them engaged in arts and crafts, board/child card games, and reading. I love taking them to parks and the playground as well as making cookies with my little assistant(s). I also spend time with the littlest ones with speech, learning how to eat with a fork & spoon, identifying objects, etc.

This year, I was a nanny to 3 young brothers and saw the older two off to school each day. When Mom's contract nursing position ended, she referred me to my current position with a 1 and 4 year old that will end next month.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a Big Sister when I lived in Florida for 3 years - I started when my little sister was 12. Her father was in jail and her mother died in her arms when she was 5 years old. Afterwards, she was being raised by her great aunt and uncle. She did not have any siblings nor many friends. I did my best to fill the void and we spent many hours together going to the beach, the movies, aquariums, listening to music, dining out, making crafts, spending the holidays together and talking.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing card/board games, arts & crafts, making learning new things fun - like the alphabet, reading, music/singing, making cookies, playing in the backyard and finding ladybugs, butterflies and fireflies, collecting and identifying rocks and seashells.

The most important part about being a nanny...

That I provide a child with a safe, fun and nurturing environment. Childhood development is so important and I will endeavor to enhance their lives.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When babysitting a 3 year old boy, he wanted to watch "Baby Shark" on his toy movie projector. The only place that we found dark enough was the downstairs bathroom. Once we got situated - he on a stool and me sitting on the toilet lid - I asked him if he wanted popcorn to which he replied, "Yes!" In a flash, I made a bag of microwave popcorn for us to share. He was absolutely delighted!
