I love to read with kids because it sparks their imagination and helps them learn in a fun way. Some kids prefer arts and crafts, so I also put effort into creating fun and creative activities that keep them engaged and allow them to express themselves. Whether it’s stories or hands-on projects, I enjoy making sure every child has a great time and feels supported.

The most important part of being a nanny is creating a safe and secure environment for the child. When kids feel safe, they’re able to relax, be themselves, and truly connect with you. That sense of trust makes it easier to build strong bonds and support their growth, learning, and happiness.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve worked with kids who have special needs both in my family and outside of it. My cousin was born premature, is deaf, and uses a feeding tube, so I’ve helped care for him pretty closely. That experience really taught me patience and how to be attentive to things like nonverbal communication and medical needs. I’ve also worked with autistic children who aren’t related to me, helping them with their routines and just being a calm, supportive presence. It’s something I’ve grown really comfortable with and care a lot about.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments as a nanny was with Cameron, a nonverbal autistic child I care for. Communicating with strangers hasn’t always been easy for him, so when he unexpectedly asked me a question, it really touched me. We were watching Story Time read-along on Netflix, and they were reading Sweet People Are Everywhere. Suddenly, he asked, “What is Columbia?” I was surprised but so happy to see him reach out. I told him it’s a country in South America, and from there, he started asking about every country that came up in the story. It was such a special bonding moment, and since then, he’s felt more comfortable opening up and asking questions. Moments like that remind me why I love working with kids so much.
