A little bit about me

I am an Elementary Education post grad from Humboldt State University. I am seeking employment as either a full time/ or part time nanny (also willing to do babysitting gigs here and there). I have developed a liking into the nanny scene because I enjoy creating a wholesome connection with the parents who just want the best for their children -- as do I. I find that this type of work is more fulfilling as I get to focus more of my attention to individual/handful of children. Beyond that, I am someone who enjoys the outdoors, hammocking, gardening, making jewelry and most of all traveling!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have been in the childcare field for 7 years now. I was a preschool/day care teacher up in Humboldt County (home of the redwood trees) at a child care center that revolved around Montessori style teaching for 5 years. I cared for children from the ages of 6 months- 5 years old.
I then moved to Los Angeles and became a behavioral therapist at a local school district where I work with children on the spectrum and children with down syndrome.
On top of all this, I have babysat for various families whose information I can provide if needed.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor activities: arts and crafts activities gathered from Pinterest, reading children's literature, cooking and baking, board games, puzzles, watching educational shows/movies, writing stories, creating forts

Outdoor activities: gardening, learning about the native plants in the area, learning about insects, scavenger hunts, obstacle courses, blowing bubbles, going on walks/park, playing sports

The most important part about being a nanny...

being someone who the child can depend on. I want them to feel supported, loved, and listened to when there are needs that the child is communicating -- whether it be verbally or non verbally at all. Most importantly, I just want to create a safe, nurturing, environment where the child can thrive and have the chance to grow into the best version of themselves.

As a former behavioral therapist, I have experience working with children on the autism spectrum and down syndrome.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite nanny moments was creating an art exhibit with a child in their home, and having the supportive parents actually act like they were in a real life museum. It made the child feel extremely happy, seen, and even more passionate about their hobby!
