A little bit about me

I’m embarking on the part-time nannying adventure as I phase out of my hospital job. I am a physical therapist who worked with (mostly) stroke patients in rehabilitation for the past 31 years. I have two adult children and love caring for kids. I followed Montessori type early learning/enrichment program with my children and would love to do the same with yours, if desired. I live in Northern Jessamine County/South of Lexington. Would be happy to chat!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a PT for 31 years, and treated pediatric clients. I raised two wonderful children and have done a great deal of child-care/baby sitting over the years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I really love to play with kids and seeing the world through their eyes. I absolutely love doing fun educational enrichment activities with kids. Learning must be fun and engaging. I taught my children to read very early on and followed Montessori type education principles. I incorporate singing, music, reading, verbal communication, sign language as well as science an art education in play. I was a biology major and love nature. I raise all types of butterflies. I’m happy to tailor lessons to your kids interests (geometry, Greek and Latin root words). I speak a fair amount of Spanish as well as some Hebrew.

Being caring, consistent, respectful, responsible, flexible and empathetic.

My experience with special needs children...

As a physical theory I have treated children with cerebral palsy, motor delay etc. (outpatient and inpatient, and had a school clinical at Shriners). I am well versed in the principles of neuromotor reeducation, balance, posture, gait training etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Watching the wheels turning in children’s heads, witnessing that aha! moment when they discover or achieve something new. The pure joy of learning is priceless. I’m very interested in neuroplasticity and language acquisition as well.
