Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Developmentally appropriate "I spy" with colors, phonics sounds, numbers etc.
Circle time - stories, songs and movement
Age appropriate practical life collaboration - scaffolding children in practicing independent skills during food prep, self care, environmental care, pet care, etc
Observing wonders of nature and identifying plants, insects, rocks, and their characteristics.
Scavenger hunts, obstacle courses
Quiet time - very gradual cultivation of mindfulness through 30seconds - 5 minutes of, you guessed it, silence. This practice is an invaluable tool in reflecting and responding to all the big feelings that inevitably arise in children (and all humans!)

The most important part about being a nanny...
Being present, observant compassionate and clear about my expectations.
Change is inevitable, especially in young humans! Remaining objectively and compassionately observant to what a child is communicating through their ever changing behavior and/or language is the most important part of being a care giver, to me. This presence allows me to get a sense for how the child is feeling, what they are in need of and how I can creatively and sincerely respond to that need.
These qualities strengthen the care giver / parent relationship too!
