Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
The summer after my freshman year, I worked as a day camp counselor at Black Butte Ranch in Sisters OR. I took care of children ages 3 to 10 all day and led arts & crafts activities, nature walks, and bike rides. I also played a ton of ping pong, foosball, and mariokart with kids that came into the rec center.

I do not have any experience with special needs children, but I am part of a program at my school where I have been buddied up for two years with an adult with special needs. His name is John and he has a fairly serious speech impediment and is confined to a wheel chair.
