The most important part about being a nanny...

I think that the most important thing about being a nanny is making sure that the children feel safe even when their parents are not there. They always want their parents, so I just assure them that their mom or dad will be home soon and I am just there to make sure that they have everything they need until mom or dad gets home. It prepares them to feel safe other adults who their parents have trusted to care for them. I consider it a privilege to be trusted with your children.

My experience with special needs children...

I have an autistic grandson and I have worked with several children with ADHD and learning disabilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Firsts! I love experiencing when babies begin to smile and giggle. Their first words are so exciting and of course their first steps. It's interesting to see what they call me when they start to talk. One little boy that I watched for many years was 10 months old when I started watching him. When he was about 18 months old we realized that he called me Bae, no one was sure why, his parents always called me Sandee, but he continued to call me Bae, even though his parents would correct him, till he was 9 years old.
