Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have an associates degree with an emphasis in education. I have worked with multiples, in a daycare setting, in schools, with groups, with children ages infant through teen, and with special needs. I am comfortable working on my own, along side other adults, and in homes or on the move. My real value comes in helping the family navigate transitions and every day struggles. I am flexible and creative and generally have a great time doing what I do!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I believe that any activity can be enjoyable and beneficial if done intentionally. I love swimming and playing games, visiting parks and museums, and reading and learning of any kind. I incorporate learning and teaching personal responsibility into every activity whether it be an everyday activity like grocery shopping or eating out, or a special adventure like a trip to the beach.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is that the experiences that the children are having with you are shaping their habits, beliefs and values. It is the responsibility of anyone working with children to help ensure that these children become responsible, caring, confident, functional adults.
My experience with special needs children...
I have been a substitute para professional at a school for children with autism and other developmental and emotional disabilities. I have worked in the past with children on the autism spectrum as well as with ADHD.
The most important part about being a nanny...
is when a toddler I was working with asked if I have a mommy and daddy and I replied that I have a mom and a step dad. He thought for a very brief period and then said "He has stairs on his head." LOL
