A little bit about me

Hi! I just graduated from Duke University with a double major in Psychology and Visual Arts, and am looking to be a nanny during my gap year before I start my master's program in clinical social work at Smith College in June 2026. I have my own car and years of professional child care experience with ages 0-14, including: as a full time summer nanny for four kids, an art therapy intern, camp counselor, and teacher’s aide. I want to be a nanny this year because I love working with kids, and helping them flourish is what I do; in fact, I’m seeking my masters to become a therapist for neurodivergent kids. As your nanny, I will show up for your family with energy, warmth, knowledge, adaptability, creative activities, problem solving skills, and the extra set of hands you need!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

1.) Full-time nanny for a family with four children, ages 3, 5, 9, and 11
- worked for them during my summer, and acquired great experience with both school year and summer nannying

2.) Art therapy intern/camp counselor at CREATE Art’s 2-week Art Therapy camp for school age kids with mild to moderate emotional, behavioral, or developmental differences

3.) Camp counselor at Calleva
- received the “counselor of the week” award
- promoted from the role of head consular to instructor
- received CPR and first aid training

4.) Teacher’s aide at an elementary school in spring 2023
- assigned to the school and trained during my Education Psychology course.

MORE!) In addition I have lots of time under my belt working as a babysitter and volunteering in an orphanage with infants! I know how to create fun and engaging activities and crafts for kids of all different ages! I am great with managing groups of kids, and can even do parties, though I charge extra based on the number of kids.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

🎨 I'm the queen of arts and crafts and make believe!

🌼 Any and all things outdoors is something I love

🕺 A little dancing and music is always fun!

🧪 I've got a few science experiments and elaborate games in my back pocket for rainy days

📚 The nerd in me is always down to be a homework helper

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being not just a sitter, but a support system.

My experience with special needs children...

At the art therapy camp (at CREATE Arts Center) I worked with school age kids with mild to moderate emotional, behavioral, or developmental differences. Many campers had diagnosis for autism, adhd, anxiety and some mood disorders.

I fervently believe in valuing the dignity, worth, and beautiful individuality of every person.
It has been true for all the kids I have worked with, regardless of the setting, that they thrive when treated as competent individuals facing a challenge and inversely struggle to problem-solve or engage in activities when adults or peers approach them with an assumption of incompetence. This philosophy is central to my care taking style, and I am always seeking and willing to further educate myself on the differences and challenges unique to your kid (including the unique strengths).

The most important part about being a nanny...

when I successfully turned a 3 yr olds bad "big feelings" day around with her favorite story time voices and some upside down sunglasses :)
