A little bit about me

Hello! I am a part time student at the University of Utah finishing up my Bachelor's in Business Administration this semester and will be graduating in Fall of 2019. I drive a reliable 2017 Chevy Cruze for transportation. I grew up the oldest of 4 children with significant age gap of 12 years between me and my youngest sibling. I got lots of experience from a young age at home being able to assist my parents with the kids. I've always joked about having "natural motherly-instincts" and nurturing abilities. I have found a passion in nannying over the last 4 (going on 5) years. Working with many families and all ages of children, with part time and full time positions. I've found that this job doesn't ever feel like a chore to me because of the pure joy that comes from working with kids. I also have lots of experience in jobs where I've done lots of family assistant work aside from watching the kids. Such as errands from A-Z, and household chores from A-Z.

More About Me

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love the outdoors and always hope to shine light on being outside as much as possible with kids. Whether it be at the pool, the park, or catching bugs and researching their habitats for the kids to learn and be engaged! I also love to pinterest cheap (mess free) crafts. Likewise I think the best thing in the world is knowledge so I always push my nanny kids to work on school projects or read because you can never have enough education. We have so many resources with technology to constantly be learning so why not take advantage?

The most important part about being a nanny...

Having another person's child under your supervision to me is one of the most underrated jobs. Children are so important and deserve high amounts of attention and interaction from the person left in charge of them. I pride myself in making their protection and well being my number one value when they are in my hands. Children have the most innocent and positive spirits and their happiness and playfulness should likewise be what makes the job of being a nanny so important to me. Something I learned early on in all my experience that is likewise significant to being a nanny is to constantly create an environment where they can feel comfortable and at peace with another caretaker that isn't their legal guardian.

My experience with special needs children...

My first official nannying job in 2015 I worked with a 12 year old girl who had mild autism and asperger syndrome. It was a great experience to face different challenges and learn how to operate with a child that suffers from disability. I do have the skills and resources now to be able to work with and manage a child with similar challenges.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I can remember taking one of the 9 year old girls I had been nannying for about a year to the Leonardo (a children's museum downtown Salt Lake) one summer. She felt like everything was "too young" for her and she couldn't get engaged like I had hoped. I planned that activity for us that day and felt really bad that she wasn't having fun. She was a great sport and decided to not complain and keep looking around the museum in hopes that she'd find something that caught her interest. We found a game of 'tic tac toe' where before you could play your turn you had to answer a question about "happiness." Her question was "what memory that has happened this year brings you the most happiness?" She told me, "meeting you because I knew you'd be like an older sister to me that I never had." It made me tear up and I've never felt more gratitude for my job until then. It really made me recognize how important my relationships have been with all the children I've nannied/babysat.
