The most important part about being a nanny...
the most important part of being a Nanny is to have fun! If you can be a kid with a kid for a few moments it truly does give you so much more respect with them. Just like you deserve respect kids do too. It's important to remember that kids don't have the capacity to handle emotions or function the way we do so if we can try our hardest to listen and understand and be a kid for a few minutes it really does make it a lot more fun!
My experience with special needs children...
I have cared for a medically complex child with a TPN port and a GJ tube. TPN stands for total parenteral nutrition and is a type of nutrition that is given through a central line. A person on TPN can not receive nutrition orally. I have also worked with children that have Autism and ADHD as well.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think my favorite Nanny moment was when I realized I was learning more from the children than they were from me. I grew so much and learned so much more about myself and about dinosaurs and sharks than I ever knew before. I always like to say that it is a joy to just be in a kid's life but it is an absolute gift to impact it.
