I am the oldest of 3 sisters and come from a missionary background. Helping out with the children just came naturally to me.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Babies are truly capable of more than most give them credit for. I like for them plenty of visual stimulatio, bright colors, and happy music. Montessori style toys and hands on learning is something I enjoy doing with the toddlers. Also small chores and cleaning tasks, which most little ones love to help you with.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is working together with the parents as a team. Consistency and plenty of love and patience make for happy kiddos.
My experience with special needs children...
Cole baby was the sweetest. Loved to eat, play in the bath, and play with her toys. A calm and warm atmosphere saw her at her best with plenty of storytime, songs, and little games.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My daughter, when she was almost 3, tried to pour herself some milk from the gallon jug and it slipped. There was milk everywhere. When I came in to the kitchen, she right away said, "It's ok, right, Mommy? Everybody makes mis-snakes." Ha. 😀
