Nanny, babysitter and I’m an aunt to an amazing 3 year old boy. I’m pretty much the child magnet at parties and get togethers. Wherever I am there’s usually a kids surrounding me or at least one attached to my hip.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Enrichment activities for their age, walks outside with the weather permitting. Sensory activities are my favorite. Science experiments with parents permission. I love to explore and take of age children to appropriate museums. Watching them learn is amazing to me.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making children feel comfortable and happy with me. Being their friend but also someone they see as someone they respect and listen too. I also like to make the parents feel like their children are 100% safe with me. That nothing would come to their children’s harm as long as they are in my care. I want parents especially to be able to go to work or on dates and not have to worry about their children because they know they are safe and well taken care of.
My experience with special needs children...
6 months with a mildly autistic 9 year old boy. I also grew up with a severely non verbal autistic boy so I occasionally helped his mom with him when I was a teenager.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Depends on the age. With really little ones it’s them crawling , walking or even starting to learn to talk. School age children is when I get to see their academic award ceremonies for school. Just watching kids discover things they never knew makes me feel so proud of them.
