A little bit about me

I am a recent college graduate and a wife of 4 years. I have my BA in English and Creative Writing with minors in Political Science and Studio Art. I am currently learning American Sign Language as well as Korean. At my core, I am an artist of many varieties. I love to write, paint, sculpt, and dance, and I absolutely love working with children. I try to incorporate creativity into just about everything I do, and I love watching children learn to harness their own creativity and grow in the confidence of who they are and all they are capable of achieving. I love animals - both fluffy and scaly alike - and I enjoy spending time out in nature. I believe that there is always an opportunity to learn no matter what the activity, and I consider myself a lifelong student of this beautiful world.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a summer camp counselor for a couple years, working with kids of all ages, leading them in activities such as arts and crafts, sports, bible studies, nature hikes, etc. I also work as a dance instructor for dancers ages 2 to adult. I have also volunteered many times for my church’s child care program, working mainly with infants and toddlers.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing arts and crafts with kids, encouraging them to explore their creativity and self-expression. I also really enjoy getting active together - whether we be dancing around or playing outside or going on walks. I also try to find the educational moments in all of our daily activities to help the kids learn from what is around them and to encourage curiosity and exploration of their environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...

There are so many things that stick out to me when I think about the importance of being a nanny, but I would say that one of the most important would have to be being there for the children through all of life’s ups and downs. It can be hard to be a kid, and as a nanny, it is so important to work alongside parents to help kids learn to express themselves and understand their emotions as they learn to navigate the world around them. Not only should a nanny be there to help pick up the pieces when things are hard, but a nanny should be there, cheering each child on through each of their victories both big and small.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with children on the autism spectrum as well as children with ADHD or ADD. I also have some experience with children who have physical disabilities such as mobility restrictions.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think my favorite moments are the ones when I see it click in a child’s head that they can do something. Whether it’s the excitement of a successful attempt at the monkey bars or the pride of a completed drawing, I love seeing children beam with confidence and grow in curiosity and ambition.
