A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Selah! A little about me: I come from a family of 10 kids. I have 15 nieces and nephews. I'm looking for work as I no longer wish to stay in my current career. I work in home doing elder care through a company. I’ve been in this career for almost nine years total and nearly five years of it professionally. However, I also worked in holistic care for a while and learned that the system I work for is not one I agree with. When in doubt, trust what God created over what mankind has created. My job currently is high stress as most clients my company cares for are on hospice or have a condition that will require hospice care. I prefer to work with kids as it is much less stressful to me. Working in elder care I have learned it’s best to do what I feel I’m missing. I’m happy to answer any questions any time. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at a camp for a while as a lifeguard and worked with kids of all ages and special needs as well. This was a little challenging at first but I really found my niche. I love working outside and miss it, but I loved working with kids more. I also was a Nanny temporarily for a family with three children. A one year old, three year old, and nine year old. I enjoyed this but I had a hard time working mornings that early as I've always been a night owl. I’m working on this and have been on day shifts for a bit. I have spent the last 17 years helping with my younger siblings and taking care of my 15 nieces and nephews! I am one blessed auntie!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love making crafts, playing music, baking and decorating cookies and the list goes on and on but the best of them all is being outside! I can't stress enough how important I feel this was for me as a child as my family dynamic was always kinda complicated with so many younger siblings. I feel everyone benefits from some fresh air!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part of being a Nanny is making sure the kids are taken care of but that is an obvious answer. A less obvious one but just as important in my opinion is making sure they are supported and feel loved and encouraged in the things they are interested in. Development is crucial to a child's ability to grow.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked at a camp as a lifeguard where I taught special needs children and adults how to fish, swim and boat. Not an easy task but one I will never forget. I got to know a lot of wonderful children and adults.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite Nanny moment was when the three kids I took care of would wake up and get excited I was there. It was such a sweet thing. The morning snuggles on the couch, making breakfast together and then a little play time before naps. There is nothing sweeter!
