Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’m high school I took a class called PALS. In this class my classmates and I worked one on one with children with learning disabilities, behavioral issues, or special needs. Since then I have started taking child psychology classes in college. I am well promoted in the different varieties of behaviors and know how to properly react to each specific behavior or extra care where needed.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to paint and draw so I’m big on arts and crafts. I played lots of sports in high school and workout four days a week so I’d love to go outside and get some fun exercise in. I’m also a BIG karaoke person so I’d love to help your babies put on a performance for you! I’m a terrible dancer so maybe your kiddies can help me in that department LOL!!!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a baby is growing a connection with the kids. When you have a genuine bond, it becomes more than just a job. It’s such a beautiful experience when the kids love your presence. It makes helping and teaching the kids so much smoother.
My experience with special needs children...
In high school I worked with a 6 year old boy with Down’s syndrome and a 7 year old girl with ADHD. I wont list their names but with the boy he taught me so much patience. He was the sweetest thing ever but had difficulties with understanding hitting was not okay. We worked through that by rewards. It took a while but he got so much better. He also didn’t understand that it was not appropriate to touch private parts. That one was much more difficult because as a helper I didn’t want to overstep in anyway so I left that more to the teacher. With the little girl, she struggled with focusing at the task at hand. She got in trouble a lot for talking, walking around, tearing up school supplies, etc… With her, breathing exercises and working one on one with no distractions worked so well for her. She was such a brilliant girl, just had trouble focusing and her guardians didn’t want her on medication. She went from failing grades to high B’s.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment would have to be around September of 2021. I was nannying these young girls and their mom let me take them to the pumpkin patch. We dressed all cute and took pictures and when we got them developed, their mom hung them on the family wall!
