More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been working with children and adults since I was 16.
However, only 2 of these jobs were paid.
My paid experience involves one full-time job as a summer nanny for a family who would like to remain anonymous. However, I can tell you they had 3 wonderful little boys, 2 of them were special needs.
My other paid experience was a full-time job at Perspectives Corporation in their DHOH Department.
I have also worked several volunteer positions for teaching art classes to children, chaperoning trips, and other seasonal activities.
My other experience that has not been paid includes babysitting for family and friends. I have also offered services as a caretaker for teenagers with disabilities like down syndrome and autism.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I believe that all children and adults benefit from a balance of indoor and outdoor activities.
Some of my favorite indoor activities include baking desserts and painting. However, I am not against a wonderful game of hide and seek.
My favorite outdoor activities include going to the zoo and aquarium. I love how each experience is different and children are able to learn about the world around them.
If the aquarium and zoo are not available though I often look for local events like crafts fairs or art shows.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Being there and listening. Children are dependent but also independent. It's important to let children do what they are capable of them and let them experiment themselves. However, it's also important to listen to their wants/needs and help them when they need it.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment I have had was with a young teenager with down syndrome.
He was a wonderful and sweet boy and I enjoyed seeing the world from his perspective. One day I brought him some sticker packs and we went back and forth putting every single sticker on a piece of paper (or ourselves!)
It was a wonderful and joyful moment and I will never forget how happy he was and hearing his amazing laugh.
