A little bit about me

My name is Shae Knox! I am 25 years old and live in Davidson, NC. I graduated from Rollins College in 2022 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management, where I was also a 4-year Division II Swimmer. I currently work remotely in the Marketing field and have a very flexible schedule with a lot of spare time. I am a very active person! I enjoy running, going on long walks, competing in marathons and triathlons, and exploring different restaurants, coffee shops and fun events with my friends and family. I was a live-in nanny for my sister for one year where I was able to take care of my newborn nephew, my 2 year old nephew and their 2 cousins who were 4 and 5 years old! I am CPR certified and practiced as a lifeguard for 6 years! I love kids, and cannot wait for my husband and I to have some of our own! I love all animals, and always believe in leaving spaces better off than when I found them! I am responsible, reliable and enjoying meeting and connecting with new people!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a swim coach for 4 years where I coached, and took care of kids ranging in ages from 4-12 years old. During this role I was responsible for their safety, and care as their parents did not stay during the lessons. I ensured that each child was taken care of and was enjoying their time in the pool! I learned how to be very creative with my lessons and how I engaged with the children! I was a nanny for a family with 3 kids all in elementary school for my 4 years of college. I was responsible for their care after school, preparing dinner and snacks for them, and ensuring all of their homework and preparation was complete for the next day. I am constantly babysitting for my sisters 3 young children, my cousins 3 young children and a lot of their friends children as well! My mom is a Kindergarten teacher, and I frequently visit her classroom to help out and visit her kids!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love the outdoors! I enjoy going on walks, runs, and just being outside in general. I always love being able to set up a fun interactive game, or scavenger hunt with kids in order to engage them in something meaningful and educational! I enjoy arts and crafts, and will always be up for a dance party! I am a very active and interactive person and believe that time should be spent on things that enrich the mind and body more than on things that keep us sedentary! However, I will always love a rainy day movie or reading a good book! Playtime is so important for young children, and I love being able to be a part of their world and elevate the playtime experience for them by participating!

My experience with special needs children...

I babysat for a family that had a son with autism for several years. He was an incredible boy, but did struggle a lot in social settings. I had to do some research in order for me to give him the best care that he needs and to be able to meet him where he was at! I still sometimes babysit for this family, and adore their children. Whenever I sat for this family, I was responsible for picking them up from school, making them a snack, preparing dinner, and helping them go about their evening activities. I taught swim lessons for several years to a few special needs children and absolutely loved it! I will always meet a child where they are at and provide them with everything they need in order to be as successful and as well taken care of as possible.
