A little bit about me

I come to the table with 30+years of experience with children starting from birth on up. I have personally had five outstanding biological children. I have also been privileged to assist in raising and loving five additional, and non related, Foster Care children (who came with their own challenges and complicated backgrounds). I have a double degree from a leading four year University in California (Nursing and Psychology) working on my Masters. My experience has proven that with a lot of love, patience, tolerance, empathy, understanding, fairness, and a huge positive attitude any child can grow and nurture.

Yes I have been a teacher.
Yes I have worked in nursing (Department of OB/GYN and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Otolaryngology).
I also volunteered for, 15 years, at Children's Hospital.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love singing and playing games (with my own 10 children everything usually turned into a happy song somehow and the children to this day still remember many of them). Depending on the child, I enjoy doing activities suited for their particular age. Growth cannot be just physically, but must be accompanied by mental growth also.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important role of taking care of a child, without being its parent, is the ability to give a child as much love and careful guidance as you can. Without a feeling of love and protection children cannot thrive properly.

My experience with special needs children...

Yes I have on several occasions taken care of children with special needs.
These children were some of the Foster Care children that came into my home.
I also assisted with many children with special needs in the Children's Hospital where I worked.

The most important part about being a nanny...

In taking care of many diversified children throughout the years I found the most rewarding was when I could actually teach a child on how to develop and grow within their own environment. Example of this was actually making a game out of picking up and putting their toys away in a play box to a made up song. When the child heard me start singing the song they would immediately start stacking their toys to put away. The youngest child I had taught to do this was a 9 month old beautiful little girl. Everyday before her naps (morning and afternoon) I would start singing the song and she would, without asking her, start stacking the toys and kissed each one before it went into the box. Parents are always amazed how many things you can get a child to do when you make it fun.
