A little bit about me

My name is shawn satterfield I am 21 years olds will be 22 nexted month. Last year in December of 2022 I just graduated with my Associate of Science in Teaching grades 1-5th. I love working with kids they give me so much joy in my life and make me happy as I see their faces and working with them. I did work with special needs kids back in the spring of 2022 as a student teacher when I was attending River Parishes community college. Kids really light up my world and make me know that this is the what I want to be doing in my life. I would like to work part time as a nanny or babysitter on the weekends with kids at the age group that they’re at.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have done volunteer work at a church called INGLESIDE United Methodist Church watching over kids ages 4-5 years old. Doing over 40 hours of volunteer work at that church from June [phone number hidden] Monday through Friday. Then I did student teaching every Friday from April to May 2022 teaching kids with special needs who were in third grade. In a specialized classroom. From 8:30am - 10:30am. I have done teaching for about 6 years at Unity Church of Christianity with unitots and uniteens. Every Sunday from 11am - 12:30pm.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Making goofy faces. Acting all silly and goofy with kids and babies. helping them build something as well as with an activity they’re doing. Watching them as they’re playing outside. Helping them in anyway I can whether it’s their homework or helping them out with an activity they’re doing on paper or in real life as well as building something anything I can help them with. I enjoy putting smiles on kids faces and telling them there doing a great job at what there doing as well as making sure their paying attention and listening.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to take in the job that is required when babysitting kids and babies. As well as not letting the work overwhelm you keeping a happy and strong face at all times. Enjoying doing it babysitting kids and babies at young ages and making them smile and stay happy and making them laugh. Keep your guard up at all times and your surroundings with the kids and babies you are babysitting in that particular area and environment. Also never letting your guard down and keeping your chin up at all times while being a nanny for kids and babies.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for special needs children who were in 3rd grade in a specialized classroom while I did student teaching with them at sorrento primary. It was something that I needed to experience so I can get a feel on how I need to work with kids and how I approach kids with special needs. I did every Friday from April - May 2022. I was in charge of making sure the kids knew what day it was and what was the weather like and what month were in as well as making sure there writing comes out clear and there is spaces between there words as they we’re writing a sentence down and writing down there answers for the bellringers.

The most important part about being a nanny...

A funny moment I had with a kid is when I was doing volunteer work at United Methodist church the kids I was looking after learned the worry of how Jesus was born because the volunteer work I did at was a vacation bible camp. Once the kids learned the story of how Jesus was born this girl who I was taking care of who was 4 years old said your going to have a baby and I laughed my head off because it was so funny. Another favorite moment of mine was when I did work as a student teacher at core to primary on my first day this girl who had special needs came up to me and said can I give you a hug and I said yes of course you can give me a hug and it really made my heart filled with so much joy and appreciation her doing that. Another funny moment that occurred when I was doing volunteer work at INGLESIDE United Methodist church for vacation bible camp this kid who I was in charge of looking after who was 4 years old said I was a bad pineapple and it was very funny to me.
