A little bit about me

I am a UNCG graduate with a degree in Social Work and a minor in Human Development and Family Studies with helped me expand my knowledge about children and their development. I have always had a soft spot for children and working with them, and for that reason, I chose that career path. One of my life goals is to work with children in whichever way I can possibly help them with their development and health. In fact, I really would love to be a therapist in the future. During my free time, I like to do fun and artsy stuff like listening to music, dancing, drawing, or painting.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have volunteered at New Arrivals institute where I worked in the daycare with refugee children ages 3-10 and provided them with play-based learning activities and education.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Some indoor activities I enjoy doing but am not limited to would be arts and crafts, painting, coloring reading, science experiments, toys, dance parties, and watching movies. For outside activities, I enjoy museums, parks, walks, riding bikes, etc.

The most important part about being a nanny for me is building a fun and trusting environment and relationship with the child.

My experience with special needs children...

I volunteered with special needs adults in the past with Lifespan Inc, where I supervised them and assisted with arts and crafts. I haven't had the opportunity to work with special needs children but I'm open and excited to!

The most important part about being a nanny...

During my time at New Arrivals Institute, there was an 8-year-old girl who was very standoffish, scared to trust, and disobedient, with a language barrier. She really disliked being there but every day I tried to make her feel comfortable and tried activities with her to get her to trust me and have fun during her time there. After some time, she warmed up to me and always looked for me. She began to look happy and have more fun, as well as play with other kids. She would run to me every time she'd see me. After my time came to an end to volunteer and work with these amazing children, I actually ran into her at a store where she surprised me and ran up to me with a big hug and made my day so special I almost cried! I was so happy to know that I made such an impact in her life that she was able to recognize me and remember me after a few months.
