Hello!
My name is Shelby, I am 24 years old and am just finishing my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have completed 16 weeks of student teaching this spring. I operated a new childcare center in Iowa as the director while also finishing my degree. I have worked in daycare since I was 19, I began as an assistant lead teacher in a Montessori based childcare center and worked myself up to becoming the lead. I moved to Northwest Iowa when I got married to my wonderful husband in 2024. I am CPR and First Aid certified, awaiting my diploma and Iowa teaching licensure, I am also medication administration certified in the state of Iowa as well. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I am awaiting my diploma for my Bachelor's Degree of science in Early childhood education. I student taught for 8 weeks in a special education preschool classroom, as well as 8 weeks in a gen ed kindergarten. I have worked with all ages in a daycare center over the course of 5 years. I am trained in Montessori and Conscious Discipline methods.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love keeping children engaged in a variety of skills that help aid in learning and exploration. I adore arts and crafts that help the children be able to explore their creativity and work on their fine motor and writing skills.

I also love to help support the child's natural curiosity by introducing them to a wide variety of fun life skills activities. These include baking, cleaning, as well as helping fold and tie things.

Helping create a fun and safe environment to help support your child's learning, exploration, and curiosity is something that I adore.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure the kids have fun, laugh, express their feelings, feel supported, most of all let them be themselves expressing their imagination.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience with working with IEPs, 504 plans and ELL students. I have worked with medically complex needs such as seizures, cerebral palsy and CVI. I have worked with children diagnosed with ADHD, ODD, DMDD, Autism, as well as Down Syndrome.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment when nannying occurs when I am able to help with their bedtime routine. I love the quiet and sweet moments that incorporate singing, reading and snuggles.
