A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Sherley but everyone calls me Kuky(childhood nicknamed by mami)
I have been around and cared for children my whole life. I first started caring for my younger sister when i was 13yrs. old.
I learned to have a lot of patience(which is key especially with younger kids). I know how to change diapers if need be, when preparing meals I like to cut the food into small sizes to make it easier to chew. I enjoy taking the kids to the park or for walks in the afternoon if the weather allows it. Im no stranger with helping out with school work and homework. I also enjoy playing games especially if its a game on cleaning up or something educational. I believe its easier to try and understand children rather then punish them or hit them. I always try to build a comfortable and respectful relationship not only with the children but with the parents as well.
Having an open and honest relationship with whoever is so important bc we're always learning something and mature.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have taken care of children since the age of 13. The neighbors kids after school, my baby sister and all her friends. I really love kids and enjoy spending time with them. I've watched kids of all ages, literally from newborn (when my baby sister was born) all the way thru age 11 or 12.
I try to stay caught up with all the cartoons educational and regular ones. Everyone says I have the patience and the time to raise a house full of kids. Lol

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy taking the kids to the park or for walks. Im always doing research on finding fun but educational games the kids in this era are into now. Sometimes I feel like a kid all over again when I'm playing and interacting with the children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe what matters the most is the safety of the children. Above everything else the children come first and their safety, their happiness and comfort is more important then any task at hand bc anything else could be replaced but our children are priceless and irreplaceable....

My experience with special needs children...

My mother was a special needs teacher in NY and sometimes I would accompany her to school. I learned how to better engage with children with special needs having patience and sometimes putting on a big smile helps ease and comfort the children. (Sometimes) lol

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment would have to be at the end of the day when the kids have to go home. Instead of crying when they get dropped off, they actually cry bc they have to go. Sometimes it takes the parents awhile to calm their kids down for them to go home by assuring them they'll see me again tomorrow!! Breaks my heart but at the same time fills my heart with so much joy and fulfillment. If that makes any sense..lol
