I have been working with children at my church for over five years by giving childcare and teaching Sunday classes. I have also been a nanny for a family friend for the past 3 summers.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love getting active with the kids, this could mean anything from a game of tag, hide and go seek, swimming, or even roller skating. I love seeing the the kids run and play because I have the best memories doing that as a kid.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I want to make a positive impact on as many children’s life as possible. Sometimes kids need someone to talk to other than a parent, someone that they know they can trust and help them in any situation because I know that would have helped me a ton as a kid.
My experience with special needs children...
I was a nanny for a child with autism and still babysit her from time to time. I also go to the autism unit at one of my local elementary schools to continue to learn about helping kids with autism become more independent as well as teaching them life skills.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment would have to be when I was working at my last job and one of the kids told me that she always looked forward to seeing me. It reallt hit me because I realized that I had made a positive impact on her life without even realizing it by just showing her she was cared for by someone outside of her family. I love the fact that I can help kids just by showing them kindness and that is the main reason I love working with them.
