Hello, my name is Skyla and I am a college student. I’m going to college to become a pediatric nurse. I am finishing the last few classes needed for the nursing program, do to the long waitlist I still have a few years. It has given me the time to take a few elected classes though, such as early childhood development. I have took a few in this subject and I think learning about it is really important and has helpful information. I plan on taking more because I think it will help with nannying now and in the future when working with kids and parenting my own.

I have grown up with a lot of kids in my life and it has caused me to have a love for them. Of course, this has definitely made me learn a lot of patience. My experience in childcare has been a combination of 6 years in nannying and babysitting. During this time I have watched children from babyhood to preteens.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

When I’m watching kids, I like to be more than just eyes, watching from the couch. I would rather get on the ground and play whatever imaginary story they can think of. It is always fun to have them lead but other times I’d like to bring over structured activities, such as sensory bins for babies and young toddlers or learning activities and crafts for anyone older. I can also help with curricular assistant whether that’s teaching basics to babies and toddlers or helping with homework for school aged kids.
