A little bit about me

My name is Safiata. I am originally from Burkina Faso, in West Africa. I speak English and French. I love being with babies and toddlers and have cared for them most of my life. I currently live in Cheverly, MD with my husband. I am looking to provide baby and toddler care for families in or around the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. I can work any day or time as needed. I have my driver's license and my own car (Honda CRV). I am CPR certified. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have served as a nanny for 6 different families over the past 6 years. The children I cared for ranged in age from newborn to 7 years old. I prefer to work with newborn and toddlers. My latest experience was caring for a newborn child until he turned 1. As part of my responsibilities, I helped to develop the child's motor, communication, emotional, and disciplinary skills. My routine may include holding, walking, talking, singing, playing, reading, feeding and changing the baby. I always remain focussed on the child's development and well being, ensuring the child is safe and secure at all times. Due to an injury, I had to take a leave of absence to recover and am now fully recovered and looking to care for another child.

Prior to my last experience, I worked with 5 other families since 2022, helping to care for their children on a daily basis.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy talking and interacting with children, laughing, playing, reading and singing with them. I love to go on walks with the children and take them to nearby parks. I enjoy holding newborns and toddlers, helping them to sleep or comforting them when they're upset.

The most important part about being a nanny...

That I can help a child feel comfortable and safein their surroundings so they can grow in a loving and nurturing environment. Just as important is to ensure the child is always under your watchful eye to ensure no dangerous objects or unhealthy items are near the child that can cause harm if consumed or comes into contact with. The safety and security of the child is the most important responsibility of a nanny.

My experience with special needs children...

I don't have too much experience with special needs children but have babysat children with autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments with children that I care for are when I talk and interact with toddlers and hearing their precious responses, or when I am cradling a baby in my arms, soothing them and helping them to sleep. I tend to have a strong affinity with babies and toddlers that makes them feel comfortable with me.
