Whether it’s offering comfort after a tough day, encouraging curiosity, or simply sharing a moment of laughter, those small, everyday interactions add up to something lasting. Being a nanny means showing up with patience, empathy, and a sense of joy and recognizing the incredible privilege of helping a child grow.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve had the privilege of working closely with children diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and it’s been one of the most meaningful parts of my work as a nanny. Each child brings a unique perspective, and I’ve learned to adapt my approach based on their individual needs, communication styles, and sensory preferences.
For children with autism, I focus on creating a calm, structured environment using tools like visual schedules, clear routines, and gentle transitions. I also emphasize social emotional support and work to build trust through consistency and patience.
With children who have ADHD, I aim to channel their energy into engaging, hands on activities and help them develop tools for focus, self regulation, and confidence. I always strive to be a steady, supportive presence someone who encourages them without overwhelming them.
Most of all, I believe in meeting every child where they are, celebrating their strengths, and helping them thrive at their own pace.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One afternoon, I was nannying a 5 year old named Max, and we decided to build a blanket fort. He took it very seriously gathering pillows, stacking snacks, and announcing, “All good forts need security systems.”
He handed me a toy walkie talkie and said, “You’re in charge of dragons. I’ll hide and call backup.”
Once we were inside, sipping juice boxes like professionals, he added, “If the dragon comes, just don’t let it eat the snacks. That’s the plan.”
It was one of those perfectly silly, imaginative moments that made me laugh way too hard and reminded me how much magic there is in a kid’s world. Especially when you’re the designated dragon fighter.🤭
