The most important part about being a nanny is making sure the kids feel heard and understood. Sometimes it’s frustrating and confusing when someone new comes in to take care of you but when you make them feel heard and understood, you build trust and a relationship with them.
My experience with special needs children...
As a Lead Preschool teacher I got to learn quite a bit of skills while teaching children with special needs. Like how they react when they are hungry, tired or thirsty, what snacks he or she prefers the most by the way they gravitate to that food item frequently, I would work with food therapists, along with speech therapist to find different alternatives to communicate with them when they did not understand.

My favorite nanny moment was when 3 kids and I built a huge hotel fort and made little rooms inside, a front desk, a room service option, the kids put so much thought and detail into what they wanted to do and I wanted to bring it alive for them the best I could.
