Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My experience comes from real, hands-on care. Every week I spent three hours with my brother’s friend’s newborn, handling feedings, diaper changes, tummy time, and strict nap schedules while jotting notes for Mom and Dad. During school breaks and many weekends, I looked after two siblings, ages one and three, keeping them busy with crafts, outdoor play, and snacks that matched their home routine. Twice a month, for up to six hours at a stretch, I cared for a six-year-old with special needs, creating sensory-friendly activities and practicing speech-therapy exercises in a calm, encouraging space. And whenever there’s a family or neighborhood party, I’m the go-to “kid-zone” leader, supervising as many as seven children of mixed ages 1-7 so the parents can relax.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Get ready for a blast of kid-powered fun—no wheels required! Indoors we’ll build blanket-fort kingdoms with secret passwords, host sock-puppet improv, and whip up fizz-pop volcanoes plus rainbow milk tie-dye. When giggles need more space, we stroll to the yard or a nearby park for backyard safari bug hunts, sidewalk-chalk speedways, bubble-burst relays, mini-match soccer, and fence painting with water that magically disappears. Calm moments are just as cool: story-time theater with dress-ups, five-minute Lego lightning challenges, yoga zoo stretches, story cookies where every sprinkle adds a chapter, and crafting magic lantern jars with tissue and LED tea lights. Every adventure fit in my sitter backpack, adjusts to each child’s age, and finishes with a cleanup dance-off so parents return to a tidy, joyful home.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part of being a nanny at 13 is earning and protecting the parents’ trust. I do that by showing up on time, following every rule they set, keeping the kids in sight, and putting safety first—no rough play, no shortcuts. If I’m unsure about something, I text or call to double-check instead of guessing. I keep my phone charged for emergencies, jot quick notes about meals, naps, and moods, and leave the house as tidy as I found it. When parents know I’m responsible, honest, and focused on their kids’ well-being, everyone feels relaxed—and that’s when the real fun with the kids can happen!!

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve been helping Quadir, my brother’s 6-year-old friend who has a speech delay. We build block towers, shout the colors, and roar like dinos until the right sounds pop out! He went from “Muh” to “more blocks please!” and we did a happy dance. My cousin Ella has the same challenge, so we bake A-To-Z cupcakes, trace letters in kinetic sand, and turn picture cards into silly stories. Making practice feel like play keeps them laughing and talking, and it’s taught me to give clear hints, stay super patient, and celebrate every new word like a mini victory party!!!
