I was a substitute teacher for all grade levels for one school year with Goose Creek. Also, I have been nannying for families around the Harris County area for the past 11 years.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Playing soccer, basketball, or pickle ball in the evenings of course since it’s so hot. I like to teach children to get creative, and we can create an obstacle course and have a fun friendly competition! If it a smaller child I tend to find that they often enjoy drawing, or playing board games that word their motor skills. Some children enjoy playing with electronics so I’ll play various video games with them.

I spent time with three children, ages 5, 12, and 16, as you can imagine, our conversations jumped from topic to topic. The oldest excitedly shared that she had just gotten a job at Sonic, while her 12-year-old brother quickly chimed in, convinced this meant unlimited free slushies for him. Since I had already meal-prepped and we had ice and candy on hand, I decided to turn the moment into something special by making homemade Icees for everyone. We took them outside, enjoyed the evening together, and shared laughs before bedtime. It was such a simple yet meaningful experience—one that reminded me how much children value quality time, attention, and the little moments we create with them.
