I was a Cognitive & Developmental Play Instructor at Gymboree Play & Music in Northern Virginia. I taught the physical/cognitive development of children ages six to 36 months through a play-centered curriculum.
Communicated appropriate developmental exercises and activities to class parents for their child. I stimulated community-building and group discussions around parenting and child development, and managed guest services and sales to achieve sales goals. As a Camp City Year Program Director, I led a staff of 7 corps members in planning a Spring Break camp for 400 DCPS students.
Formulated the first socioemotional camp curriculum for the Spring Break initiative. AmeriCorps Corps Member, I volunteered for two years as an in-class mentor at a Southeast D.C. elementary school
Worked with over 400 students, teaching 30 first-grade students in literacy and behavioral intervention small groups, implementing a weekly positive relationships mentoring club for 10 second-grade girls.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Reading, playing, dancing, exploring imaginative games, and learning about their favorite things.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My relationship with the child, and communicative partnership with the parent/guardian.
