The most important part about being a nanny...
LOVE! Understanding and having the passion to be a part of a family and knowing that you play an important part in the aid of the parents. Giving them a piece of mind that the most important part of their life will be safe and never have to worry if they’re being taken care of in the ways they they would. To me being a nanny is becoming an extended addition to a family.
My experience with special needs children...
I grew up with an autistic cousin in my home, I have a 10 year old son with autism. I would say I have a long life of experience with special needs children. It’s not easy, but the triumph in solving the issue and nurturing a child with special needs, it’s a gift and a curse. Once you’re attached and they’re attached it’s no changing the routine. In dealing with children with special needs I’ve learned… THEY KNOW IF YOURE TREATING THEM LIKE THEY HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS..
In most cases I’ve found.. They want to be independent and it takes love attention and being very observant to help them gain that independence. I’ll tell anyone.. Anyone with a special needs… IS SMARTER THAN THE WORLD GIVES THEM CREDIT.
The most manipulative ones are autistic children lol. They will let you THINK they don’t know what’s going on, but THEY DO🤣

My favorite moment as a nanny?
I haven’t been a nanny but as a babysitter or chaperone, My favorite moment was my client Quincy.. I was his sitter for the summer, so I kept him at the youth football practices. I was his sitter for a summer but was his football coach three years. Today in 2025, my little buddy is on his way to play football for Appalachian State. When he got accepted and called me from the ceremony saying thank you and said I was the big brother he always wanted and he only hope he can be a great big brother to his sister😢 that moment was and still means a lot. His mom and sister is all he have. He held so much in as a young kid (10 yo)
After his Dad passed.. I felt so humbled that I was able to help him to be on a path of greatness
