I love taking care of & watching children grow. I am Sue, an experienced nanny, with over 35 years watching children & 15 years as the Lead teacher for preschoolers! Some of my experiences include: babysitter(12 yo) Summer Recreation Volunteer, Candy Striper, Red cross volunteer watching children, Cub scout leader, Vacation Bible school teacher, Special needs care, nannying & raising my 2 step-children & my own 2 sons; one with Autism &/ADHD & the other with ADHD & auditory processing disorder. I enjoy being directly involved in a child's development. From arts & crafts to outside play; science experiments to gross & fine motor skills; playtime, food & naps; watching & encouraging developmental milestones; to enjoying being with your children & encouraging safe & fun play & development habits! I love teaching and watching children grow. I enjoy being hands-on with them. I enjoy exploring with children; whether it be going outside, experimenting with science or teaching new things. I am knowledgeable about age appropriate milestones, abilities & play interaction. If I don't know something I will ask or find out the information. I prefer to communicate with the parents on a daily basis. I try to deflect/or ignore negative behavior, offer a choice, redirect attention or use a time out chair, with explanations of what they are feeling, after time is up.

My experience with special needs children...

I have special needs experience: Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Non verbal, speech delay, wheelchair bound, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, Diabetes, Cerebral Palsy & more.

I have raised 2 sons with ADHD. One son had Asperger's, also. I haved watched many children over the years with Special Needs.
