Hello, I'm Sullivan! I'm passionate about childcare and plan to be a stay-at-home father in the future. I highly value education, and I'm eager to help nurture children's natural curiosity. There's no such thing as too many questions for me! I'm also an artist in my free time, and I love to see kids indulge in their creativity. While I don't have certifications, I am familiar with first aid and CPR thanks to past education and an ongoing interest in medical science. I voluntarily studied health and psychology in high school, both of which included units about child development. On top of that, I'm the oldest of three siblings and grew up helping to care for them, and I have experience babysitting the children of a past family friend (ages 2-3 and 6-7). More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I spent about a year caring for the children of a past family friend, ranging from as-needed babysitting when their mother was busy, to daily care when that became a necessity for the family. The children were aged 2-3 and 6-7. My responsibilities included preparing meals, walking the older daughter home from the bus stop, getting the girls ready for bed (including bedtime stories!), and generally keeping them entertained. In my teen years, I also had some unpaid experience helping my mother babysit the neighbor's children, a toddler and an infant. I additionally grew up helping to care for my two younger siblings from their births onward.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Creativity and learning are my specialties! Reading together, teaching kids about fun topics, helping out with arts and crafts, and playing pretend are some of my go-to activities. I like to keep stickers and coloring supplies on hand when I babysit to make sure there's always fun to be had. I also enjoy cooking and baking, and I'm happy to let little ones help out with the safer parts of that, like mixing ingredients and decorating desserts.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Putting the children first. Their safety, their joy, their growth. I'm incredibly protective of all children, especially those in my care, and I believe all children deserve the nurturing they need to grow into happy and healthy adults someday. It's important to me that I put in the effort to understand what a particular child needs, and to do anything and everything in my power to ensure those needs are met. This is the driving force behind my passion for childcare, and a core value in my life overall.

My experience with special needs children...

My youngest sibling is autistic, and one of the girls I used to babysit has severe ADHD. I'm familiar with both conditions and am fully capable of tailoring my childcare approach to accomodate the needs of children with them. I don't have experience caring for physically disabled children, but as someone with chronic pain I am active in disabled communities and understand that proper care is of the utmost importance for children who have unique needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It's hard to pick a favorite! For each of the two girls I used to babysit, I baked them cakes for their birthdays, which I was glad to see them and all their birthday guests enjoy. But there were also a lot of smaller moments - seeing the girls excitement when I walked through the door, reading them extra bedtime stories when they had behaved well, drawing pictures together at the table. I cherish both the big and the small.
