A little bit about me

I’m a career nanny and experienced educator with more than 35 years of experience caring for and working with children. I hold a B.A. in Elementary Education and a Master of Education and spent more than 20 years teaching before transitioning to professional nannying.

I have extensive experience caring for children from infancy through the teenage years, including working with professional and physician families. I’m especially passionate about infants and young children and recently completed Newborn Care Specialist training through Newborn Care Solutions, expanding my knowledge of newborn development, feeding, soothing, sleep, and safe sleep practices.

I’m warm, patient, dependable, and professional, and I strive to provide children with loving, nurturing care while giving parents confidence and peace of mind.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

One of my favorite things about being a nanny is that learning can happen almost anywhere. We might sing songs in the car, read books under a tree, build with blocks on the living room floor, or notice letters on a sign while we’re out and about. I love following a child’s interests and turning everyday moments into opportunities for imagination, conversation, and discovery. Of course, we also have plenty of fun with crafts, dramatic play, board games, and playground adventures.

The most important part about being a nanny...

is caring for the children while also supporting the parents. My job is to create a safe, loving environment where children feel encouraged to learn, explore, and simply enjoy being kids. At the same time, I want parents to know they can depend on me. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing I’ve helped make their day a little easier and that they can come home to happy children and a peaceful home.

My experience with special needs children...

While my professional experience has primarily been with typically developing children, I have had meaningful exposure to children with special needs throughout my career. During my years as an elementary educator, I substituted in special education classrooms and collaborated with special education professionals to support students with diverse learning needs. I have also gained personal experience through my niece, who has special needs, which has deepened my appreciation for the importance of patience, flexibility, and meeting each child where they are developmentally. Although I would not consider myself a special needs specialist, I am eager to learn, follow family and therapy recommendations, and provide compassionate, individualized care.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have so many favorite nanny memories that it’s hard to choose just one, but one that always makes me smile happened when my little 16-month-old friend and I were walking into his My Gym class. We had been having fun playing with letter sounds every day and singing “C Is for Cookie” by Cookie Monster. As we walked up the stairs, he suddenly stopped in front of a sign that was right at his eye level. He pointed to the letter “C” and proudly made the /k/ sound. I remember smiling because it was one of those wonderful moments when you realize a child has made the connection. Seeing learning happen so naturally through play and everyday experiences is one of the things I love most about being a nanny.
Moments like that remind me that children are always learning, and it’s such a privilege to help spark their curiosity and celebrate those little discoveries along the way.

Live-In Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Louisville, KY: Zaquoya T.

I have 7 years of experience working with children between the ages of 0-14. I love being around children and pre-teens. I have always found myself around children. I could never say no to babysitting growing up, even if it was for free. It is just something that I have ALWAYS enjoyed. It feels very natural to me. I am trained in CPR and AED. I am enrolled in an Advanced Childcare course with the Red Cross to further develop my skills and increase my knowledge! I love taking day trips or sitting at home and being creative. I enjoy reading stories to the babies just as much as I love mentoring pre-teens on life issues like school or friends. I like to also volunteer in my free time. I describe myself as fun but I am stern when need be. I am definitely a social and knowledgeable person. I have an adventurous attitude and I don't give up easily. I will treat your little ones as my own family, with respect and care.
