A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Sydney. I am currently employed at A Child’s World Learning Center in Clemmons, NC. I am the assistant teacher in the older 3s room. I previously worked at another daycare as the lead pre-k teacher with kids ages 3-5 years old. I also have experience in the toddler room with 1 and 2 year olds. I work well with older, school aged kids as well. I’m currently enrolled at Surry Community College pursuing a certificate and diploma in Early Childhood Education. I am on my second semester. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently work at a child care center as an assistant teacher in the 3 year old room. I was a Pre-K teacher at another child care center and I worked with children ages 1-5.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I create lesson plans based on themes of the week. For example, during Christmas time, we have done a theme called “Letters to Santa.” An example of an indoor activity I did with my class for that was creating a writing station with a mail box. I had my children practice writing their abc’s and put their “letters” into the mailbox so that I could mail them to Santa. Some examples of gross motor activities that I put together recently for the children include snowman bowling, the Gingerbread Man game, a “Santa hunt,” and a “reindeer run.” We typically do dance parties on Fridays. I do a craft with them every morning. They’ve recently made santa hats where they glued the letters of their name down. They’ve also done a craft called “Santa’s stuck in the chimney.” Today they made paper chain elves.

My experience with special needs children...

I have little experience with special needs children. I have the knowledge and education on the idea of it from school, but not enough experience to care for them on my own, daily.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I’m not a nanny yet, but my favorite daily occurrence at work is when I first walk in the door and my kids all run up to hug me. “MISS SYDNEYYY LOOK GUYS MISS SYDNEY’S HERE!” except they can’t say my name right so they call me “Cindy.” It’s the cutest thing ever.
