A little bit about me

Hi, My name is Sydney. I'm 20 years old I am currently enrolled in college at Temple University, I'm a junior, Health Professions major. I have not worked a official nanny job before but I have a worked with children before. In the past three years, I've worked at a youth summer camp over the summer. There were six children in my group from ages 8-11 years old. I also coached a youth cheer leading team ages 7-10 years old. Also I have a younger sister I watched since I was in middle school after school and shes five years younger than me. I like working with children they are super energetic and fun to be around and I have a pretty bubbly personality as well so it works out great.

I worked with a special needs child while I was doing a internship at a physical therapy clinic, nothing further than that. But I am more then happy to work with a child with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I haven't had a "nanny" moment, but when I was coaching my cheer team there was one girl when we first started she had to be 8 at the time she would not leave her father side or wouldn't speak to anyone but her dad. He explained to me that he put her in cheer beacuse shes very shy and he wants her to get comfortable with being around people and talking to them. So for the first month he would sit in on all the practices and stuff. And as we started getting into winter season of cheer we have closed practices. Before that I knew I had to get her comfortable with me and the team. So I would host movie nights at my house every week, I picked her up from her house for practices, planned a outing to build a bear for the girls, there was alot of small things I did. But the end of the season came and it was like night and day she was so social and comfortable with everyone, she even had a birthday party that I was invited to and it just felt great to know that I helped her overcome that.
