My name is Sydney, but everyone calls me Lin! I'm about to turn 22 and have been babysitting since I was twelve. I have also taught at a couple of daycares for about a two years! I have my CDA and am CPR and first aid certified (as well as AED trained). In addition to that, I have my license and a reliable SUV. I currently live in Montrose, PA. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I had been a daycare teacher for about two years, and also have experience as a nanny. I also have been babysitting since I was 12- alone when I turned 16, and continue to do so now. I have experience with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and schoolagers. I also have multiple years experience caring for children with Autism, as well as children with behavioral challenges.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor- Painting, playing with any toys they have, reading, and learning (numbers, letters, colors, shapes, spelling their name, expanding vocabulary, etc.), playing dress up, and reaching milestones!
Outdoor- Bubbles, going to the park, any outside toys available, water play (if weather permits, and is available), soccer, or other sports and if allowed, I'd enjoy bringing them out for a treat or on other outings like to the museum for example!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making the child(ren) feel comfortable and making sure they know that you are there as a friend, and to help them. However, rushing them to be comfortable with you is not a good idea. You NEED to give them time and space and once they trust you, it is your job to teach them everything they need to know- and to, of course, have lots of fun playing games and watching movies!

My experience with special needs children...

I have indirectly cared for one girl, named Emmie, who has down syndrome and I also have taught many kids who are undergoing evaluations for autism or other special needs concerns.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I didn't nanny for long, so I don't have many experiences, but as a teacher and babysitter I have experienced many funny moments with my kids! When I was a teacher, one of the twins in my Preschool class asked me if i wanted to go to their house to see their turtles and I said, "Yeah, I would love to! What are their names?" And it turned out, they weren't talking about real turtles...They said, "No, Ms. Lin! Our turtles the snack! They don't have names you silly goose!"
