More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My first job was a lifeguard and through that job I became a swim instructor for children ages 6mo-13yrs. I did that for nearly 10 years in conjunction with other jobs. I worked in a pediatric ER as an EMT/CNA and have had many Nanny/babysitting jobs throughout the years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love baking and doing different art projects with children. It gives them the opportunity to create something fun and/or delicious! And, they get to work on fine motor skills. I also love to go for long walks, ride bikes, play at the park and go swimming. I enjoy a relaxing afternoon to watch a movie every now and again, but my main goal is to spend as much time as possible creating, learning and exploring.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part of being a nanny is trust. To lead with integrity and always engage in respectful, open communication with the parents and the children. Nannies should be an extension of the love the parents provide, while also helping create a safe and constructive environment for the children to learn, grow and have fun.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have any formal experience with children with special needs, but I am incredibly compassionate and patient, and always willing to learn.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite moments was when I was a nanny for a family with 3 children. The older two were only 13mo apart (5yrs & 6yrs) and they had a little brother that was 6mo at the time. The girls had a fun day playing and the house was a mess! It was a couple hours before their parents were supposed to get home and I heard them begin to bicker. I asked what was wrong and stumbled upon a very cute, and not so complicated predicament. The 6y/o wanted to clean up to make mom and dad happy and the 5y/o wanted to have a dance party. Of course, in my mind the solution was simple, but it made me giggle. And that is how our clean up dance party tradition started. They looked forward to it everyday!
