"Tami was the team lead in the infant classroom and I was the classroom assistant. I came in mid-year, not knowing the children or the classroom routine. Tami was a patient, friendly and supportive supervisor that really helped me feel comfortable stepping into my new role. Our classroom ran smoothly and the kids really loved her. They were happy to see her each day. She did a great job at managing the stress of lesson planning, documentation, conferences all while being in the classroom building connections with each child, and supporting their development. You can tell she loves what she does and really has a passion for working with kids. The most important part about being a nanny is building a positive relationship with the children and their family. Anyone can cook, clean, help with child care or daily needs. It takes a special person to really get to know the children and individualize care based on each child’s unique needs. I believe that is the most important part. Making sure that the family feels safe and valued and knows that you care about their child as much as they do.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience in caregiving for a young boy who suffered from a traumatic brain injury. It was one of the most rewarding jobs I ever had and I am still in touch with him and his family to this day. At this job, I got to build a great relationship with him and engaged in activities that helped him with emotional regulation, getting active and relearning daily routines.
