Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have over 10+ years working with children's. My first job was as a after school program teacher at the age of 14 and I've been working with students ever since. I've worked as a preschool teacher, a summer camp counselor, ABA, and currently a teachers assistant from elementary to middle school.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love being outdoors at parks, hiking, and at the beach. I enjoy sensory arts and crafts, reading a creating books and charts.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important part as a nanny is the treat the child as your own! Be protective, caring and a loving person. Build a rapport so the child feels comfortable around you.
My experience with special needs children...
I currently work with students who have IEP's but are in general education classes. When I did ABA, I taught non-verbal children basic life skills in their home such as brushing teeth, making their bed, preparing a snack and creating a schedule when they should shower or bathe.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I haven't worked as a nanny before however, when I worked in ABA, we set a goal for one of my non-verbal student to follow their schedule without me for a week. The reward for them was a day at the park. They completed their goal and the joy on their face bought me much joy! I let them chose a park of their choice, we got ice cream and spent a day outdoors.
