One time I was babysitting a 3 year old and she wanted have hair like Jojo Siwa- her hair is curly and brown. So I had improvise and put her hair in a cute pony. When she looked in the mirror she started crying because she didn't look like her. So I told her that she was beautiful and that it is okay to not look like Jojo.
When she heard that affirmation her mood switched and was ready to go to the park with her Jojo Siwa glitter bow high top shoes!
I felt like as young women and looking back on moments when I was a little girl I remember feeling that way and I wish someone would have told me that it is okay not to look like my dolls because those are dolls and I am meant to look like me. I will remember that moment because it felt like I was seeing a version of myself crying over something I can't control, so helping her out in viewing herself in a different light was important to me.
