More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I first began working with children at 14 years old. I was a recreation aid at a youth center for military and DOD affiliated families. I worked there every summer from ages 14-18. At 18, I was hired as a full time Child and Youth Program assistant. I took a break due to moving for my husband’s job and provided in home childcare services for our neighbors and family for 5 years. Now that my own children are school aged, I would love to provide care for other families as well. I understand quality, affordable childcare is extremely hard to find these days and I’d love to ease that burden for a family.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy fostering a love for reading in the children I provide care for. I also love to introduce new activities to help find out what they are interested in. I prefer input from parents but can find activities on my own to do with the children as well.

My experience with special needs children...

Prior to my son being diagnosed with autism, I worked with children with a range of special needs. ASD, Down syndrome, and ADHD are the most common special needs I’ve worked with but I learn quickly and pick up any skills needed to care for children with other special abilities.
