A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Taylor and I have been working with kids since one of my first jobs as an Assistant Daycare Teacher at Child’s Creative Development Center. I instantly fell in love with working with kids. Inspiring them, imagining with them and watching them grow and develop throughout our time together. I hold a BFA in Theatre Performance from Niagara University with minors in English, Education and ASL & Deaf Studies. I was on the path to my Masters in Theatre Education when I got an offer to be the Company Manager and Seasonal Performer at Hersheypark. Since, I have been working in this field. I would love to continue working with kids as a side hustle when I’m in the area/not on contract. I was CPR & First Aid trained in the past and can get recertified. My ASL is intermediate but I am trying to brush up again, I was very good before! I love playing, going on adventures, and giving them a safe space to express themselves, have fun and be kids! Assistant Teacher/Supervisor/Lead Summer Camp Counselor at Child’s Creative Development Center in Tonawanda, NY for 3 years. Summer Camp Counselor and Main Actor in Repertory Theatre for Young Audiences at Niagara University. Substitute Teacher at Lewiston-Porter CSD, K-[phone number hidden]. I am a Teaching Artist teaching tools of theatre and performance at various professional Buffalo theatres including Theatre of Youth and Second Generation. I create lesson plans and bring ideas and nuance to each workshop/session/class. I want every kid to get something out of it, even if it’s just having a good time. I have occasionally babysat for close friends, relatives and some people who I have connected with through mutuals. I have always found myself gravitating toward teaching and working with kids.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Pretend/imaginative play
Going to the park, aquarium, zoo, museum, farmers market, etc! Even just going on a walk if it’s nice out to get out of the house and stay somewhat active!
Watching a movie (actively!), I like to discuss what’s happening in the movie as it’s happening in order to help them process and understand what’s going on (age dependent of course). I find it’s good to make commentary and ensure the kids stay engaged through the movie. It helps activate your brain instead of just turning it off. Although sometimes, you need to do that too. Balance is key.
Make new recipes together (age dependent)
Color, crafts, new skills, etc.
I love being active and engaged and will keep up with their energy rather well. I usually can match the energy of the kids and meet them where they’re at on a given day. If we need to just chill, we can! If we want an adventure, let’s go! I’m down to fit the needs of your kid(s), family and lifestyle as much as I can :)
