A little bit about me

Ive been nannying for almost 20 years and adore children. Im hoping to create bonds and be an extra safe adult the kids can go to if they are too scared to tell you. Obviously I’ll let you know what going on, there will be consequences, but to know their parents love them. We get little space on here so bare w/ me and im happy to answer any questions.
I was a youth group leader at my church for kids in bad home lives, I’ve worked with special needs (great with autism). I do pick up, errands, an an amazing chef that cooks very healthy and no can tell the difference.
My mom was a childhood development major in college and taught me a lot! we always had kids that came from bad home lives living us (we covered everything) and I was taught to be loving above all else.
My dad was a vice and narcotics officer and always encouraged be to be a champion and the voice for the voiceless. After he retired, he worked w/ his former partner to help find missing kids with a huge success rate.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

nannying professionally 4 about 18 years w/ kids ranging from newborns- 15. I adore it. My only bad habit is that kids are hilarious and it is so hard to keep a straight face lol
In Dallas, I worked with 2 teens, boy and girl about 13 and the girl was 14. Love the parents. My duties included to do the dishes, did the kids laundry, pick up kids, then make dinner for when everyone to make it so the parents had one less thing to worry about so they could relax when they got home. I sat for a young single mom for a 5 year old. The list goes on and on but I figured I would give you an idea of what I do and you can message me w/ more questions.I was trained by the Olympic swim coaches that trained gold medalist Amanda Beard and I got 1st in nationals.Water safety is so imortant. If you’re up for it, I can work with them on that and make them strong swimmers.
My goal’s to find a good fit for us all and to remember a nanny is just an extra trusted adult that the kids can trust & feel safe

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Ok, this list goes an and on! I love to go swimming with them. Dancing to music, teaching them to cook, (as kids are more inclined to want to eat if they helped make, it) we color, play games, do science experiments, etc. it depends on the kids interests.
I worked with an 8 year old who had trouble reading. I got her books she loved but still struggled. I had her text on my phone telling my friends she was texting So I could make sure they kept it G rated. it seemed that way she was able to pick it up better. She is now a writer and im so proud.
Because of my extensive improv and acting resume, i find new games that can be educational. The girls loved science and mermaids as well. (I got us mermaid tails) I managed to get my friend who worked for NASA as a marine biologist who is currently working with high schoolers all over the world to work on growing food on mars.
I am a born and patient teacher and love to teach kids and help them find a their passion and love school.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I hate when people say in just a babysitter. It is so much more that that! They learn so, so much (those first three months are CRUCIAL). I like to play games that help them develop well without them know and just think we are having fun. I’m always down for activities & any kind of games, taking them to see museums, galleries, and the like.
I also think kids are the funniest. I’ve had kids get sassy and I’ll try to use my words to explain to them we keep out our hands to to ourselves and if there is an issue, find an adult. But I’m not gonna lie, I’ve had to excuse myself momentarily while I have to hold back laughter lol
I think the most important is for caregivers is to remember I’m not a replacement, I am an extension of you. They’re your kids, your house, your rules.I want you all to trust me.If the kids are scared to tell you they messed up, I always tell them they can tell me.There will be consequences but i’ll be the buffer if you like and remind them that you love them.

My experience with special needs children...

Autism, ADD, ADHD, severe depression, PTSD, and Down syndrome. I’m very patient with all kids. I also have a lot of family members on the spectrum so I always say I “speak that language very well.”

The most important part about being a nanny...

I can’t choose! There have been been so many!
I worked w/ underprivileged kids in the foster care system as a youth group leader. The kids would argue who got to be on my team because I’ve no shame and will be silly w/ them.
Another was these wonderful girls I watched for a long time and was basically a 2nd mom them since their parents had some issues. They’re thriving now The 8 year old struggled with reading so I got her books she would like and would have her text my freinds on my phone to help her get the hang of it. I also brought my friend from NASA to do science experiments w/ the girls
Moved recently from TX, I had these two guys who had been together for years and they were so kind. I usually worked with Pete and he went to culinary schools. Im an excellent cook but he taught me a few skills. It was the hardest job I had 2 leave because they’re like family.
I don’t have enough room to write all my favorite moments, but feel free to ask me!
