My experience with special needs children...
I started out as an in-house caregiver for a family with a son who has severe ASD and epilepsy. I was with this family for four years — helping prepare meals, report and track seizures as they occurred, run errands, and ultimately become one with the family. In late 2020, I decided to branch out and see what options were out there within this field of work. Care giving comes naturally to me, especially with those with special needs, and I wanted to expand my horizons. I applied to become a Behavior Technician, providing ABA therapy/support both in home and in clinic/schools. I have been a licensed BT for almost four years!
