More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

For almost two years now, I’ve volunteered weekly at an equine therapy center where I often help out with our younger participants, especially during summer camp programs where I would be responsible for 6+ children at a time. Doing barn chores, on horseback, or doing crafts, I would keep an eye and help wherever I was needed. Alongside this more recent experience, I also spent two weeks helping out with younger children at Camp Wood Haven, a summer camp owned and run by the GSEP.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am more than happy to do any safe activity with children! I’m a big believer in getting outside whenever possible, so running around the yard playing tag, hide n’ seek, or playing with toys is one of my favorite ways to engage with the children when the weather allows it. If it’s too cold or rainy, I’m also glad to help engage them inside, whether it be toys, puzzles, more hide n’ seek, or arts and crafts.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important parts of being a nanny is keeping everyone safe, and setting children up for success. Knowing how to keep a child safe, engage their minds and bodies, and prepare them for their future are the most important skills a nanny can have.
Loving your job and truly caring for every child and family you work with is a rare but important thing, and a value that should be held close to a nanny’s heart.

My experience with special needs children...

While I have limited experience with special needs children, I am very familiar with ADHD and ASD, and will always try my absolute best to make sure everyone feels seen and included.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Last year during a week of summer camp, there was one incredibly sweet, shy little girl. I didn’t speak to her much as she wasn’t in my assigned group, but at the end of the week, she came over and gave me a small, scribbled-on card, still sticky with glue, and then ran back off. When I opened the card, I saw that she had written “Will you be my friend?” In big blue letters and drawn bunch of flowers and hearts around it. It was such a sweet moment and I still think of it very often.
