You not only have to love being around children but you must be tolerant and open-minded. Children are the most honest human beings on this Earth so you must also be transparent because they will call you out in a minute if they sense you're being untruthful. The best thing to do is go with the flow (especially with younger children).

One of the children I used to watch kept complaining that I wasn't that much fun to be around because I followed specific instructions left for me by her parents. On my last day, she cried for me to stay and presented me with a drawing she made of the both of us. Best nanny moment ever!!!
