A little bit about me

Hi! I'm Tiffany.
I recently moved back to OH from CO after graduation from Naropa University (where I got my BA in Contemplative Psychology). I'm looking for a position working as a helper for another awesome family. I have nannied children of all ages from newborn to 12 yrs for the past 10 years. Aside from nannying, I teach yoga and do Reiki healing sessions, study and occasionally teach herbalism classes, and work one day a week at a local organic farm. In my free time I am usually making art, somewhere walking barefoot in nature, dancing/free flowing yoga, or reading. I love learning about alternative healing, psychology, anything to do with keeping the mind, body, and spirit healthy. I like to include mindfulness practices into my babysitting/nanny approach as I have seen how impactful this is in a child's development. I'd love to chat about the opportunity of helping your family. Please feel free to contact me with any questions if this sounds like it may be a good match for you.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have nannied for 10+ years, helping over 8 different families since the time I was able to start babysitting/nannying on my own. All ages, ranging from being with a newborn full-time to spending time with 12 year olds after school. Aside from nannying, I also studied psychology in college. This allowed me to choose many classes based in child development, such as: children's literature, yoga & human development, & basic psychology courses which focused a lot on how a child's brain & behavior develop. After graduation, I worked as an Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant (ECMHC) at CommQuest, Inc.. Through this position, I helped toddlers and preschoolers learn social skills, emotional regulation, and demonstrated healthy social experiences with the children through play. I also graduated with a degree in Contemplative psychology, which primarily focuses on mindfulness-based techniques and skills... which come in handy when teaching/guiding/spending time with children!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Hiking, exploring in nature, science experiments, reading, schedule/structure, games (imagination games or board games), art! lots of arts and crafts, sports, ETC.! Endless fun ideas.

(MINIMAL devices/screen-time)

With toddlers: sensory play, reading books, practicing and learning skills that are developmentally appropriate... ETC.

The most important part about being a nanny...

AWARENESS.
Of self & of the child.
Being aware of myself allows me to be fully present with the children in the moments that they need me most. It allows me to stay patient and balanced internally so that I am a consistent figure of support for them. By being highly aware of the children, it allows for creating a connection where the child feels seen, respected and honored as an individual. When I notice their favorite snacks, or ask them how they're feeling when I notice their body language seeming upset... it creates a sense of trust within our dynamic and they know that I care to pay attention to the small things.

Also - LOVE.
Big, big love and unconditional acceptance are really the only keys needed to create an environment conducive for children to thrive.
I truly am amazed at each of the children I have spent time with, they are all so talented, intelligent, strong, witty, etc.! And each and every one is so beautifully unique.

Love, awareness, patience, and compassion.

My experience with special needs children...

I worked with multiple special needs children as clients while working in pre-schools as an ECMHC.
I also nannied full-time for 2 children on the spectrum.

The most important part about being a nanny...

HOW could one ever pick a favorite nannying moment?! This question almost brings tears to my eyes. I could never choose between those special moments. From learning to ride bikes, to silly faces when discovering new foods, or giggle parties! or the times when I hear/see the teachings I've shared with the kids come into play when they think I'm not around... maybe sharing quiet, special moments while rocking a baby to sleep. Or seeing a determined 3rd grader learn all of their times tables!!!
The moments are endless. And I hope to create more along the way. :)
