I have been working as an autism therapist (Registered Behavior Technician) for over 3 years. I previously worked as a pediatric case manager.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love any form of sensory play, including bubbles, play doh, interactive science experiments, all of it! I'm especially big on music. As an autism therapist, I've collaborated with occupational therapists throughout my work. So I also have tons of ideas for motor-skill activities!
My experience with special needs children...
I have TONS of experience with kids on the autism spectrum, with various levels of support needs. I've worked with plenty of nonverbal kids and have experience communicating with AAC, PECs, and some basic ASL. I've also worked with a couple children with down syndrome, however my experience isn't nearly as robust as my experience with autism. I'm also relatively familiar with many of the common co-occurring conditions with autism, including learning disabilities, ADHD, sensory integration/processing disorder, etc.
